Women in Horror Film Festival is Returning to Peachtree City!

Back in September I told you about the incredible Women in Horror Film Festival in Peachtree City, Georgia. For three days attendees were given the chance to not only watch some of the most amazing independent horror films by women from all roles in the industry but also had the chance to discuss these fantastic movies with the creators themselves. Unlike some festivals that come across as stuffy and inhospitable to all but the industry elite, the producers of Women in Horror Film Festival made it a point to create an open and welcoming environment where fans, press, filmmakers, and other talented creators could meet as equals to discuss this truly underrated style of art. Everyone in attendance agreed that it was truly unlike any film festival that they had ever seen.

Well, scaremakers, I’m happy to tell you that Women in Horror Film Festival is returning to Peachtree City this October and 52 Weeks of Horror is going to be there on the dead...I mean, red carpet just for you. It’s truly an honor to be invited back to cover such an astonishing and inspiring event that focuses on the important contributions of women in film while being inclusive and appreciative of everyone in the independent film industry. Here’s what the producers of the festival had to say in a recent press announcement:

That’s right, alongside such other horror culture sites as iHorror and Pop Horror, 52 Weeks of Horror is coming back to bring you reviews, interviews, and news from some of the most talented women in independent horror. But why are you listening to me? Take a look at this press release and see for yourself:

The Women in Horror Film Festival is coming back to Peachtree City, GA during October 4-7, 2018. The event will take place at the newly remodeled Crowne Plaza Hotel & Conference Center on their gorgeous wooded property just miles from legendary Pinewood Atlanta Studios and The Walking Dead’s AMC Studios.

The fest will run for 4 days, beginning with an exclusive VIP party on Thursday, October 4, to kick off the event. Filmmakers, screenwriters, press, and celebrity guests will walk the Dead Carpet and come together in anticipation of 3 days of independent horror films.

This year’s event will see the addition of more workshops and panels geared toward filmmakers and screenwriters including, but not limited to, a live read of the short screenplay finalist scripts, a SFX demo, and more! The Women in Horror Film Festival will be welcoming vendors, artists and industry pros to share their creations and meet with horror fans. The weekend-long festival will end with an awards ceremony where the winning filmmakers and screenwriters will be recognized for their work with one-of-a-kind Lizzie trophies, crafted by horror sculptor Karl Libecap.

The Women in Horror Film Festival is thrilled to have found shared values and mutual support of the indie film community with two other film festivals for the addition of two very special awards. The Better Horror Lizzie will be presented by Nightmares Film Festival, currently ranked as the best-reviewed horror film festival on FilmFreeway, and the all-new Narrative Drive Lizzie will be presented by Austin Revolution Film Festival, the best overall reviewed film festival on FilmFreeway. Women in Horror Film Festival is excited to host these additional opportunities to recognize the hard work of independent filmmakers!

Submissions for Women in Horror Film Festival 2018 are open. Interested filmmakers and screenwriters can submit their work here: https://filmfreeway.com/WIHFF and check out full details at www.WIHFF.com.

Did you catch that last paragraph, Scare Makers? Submissions are open now for filmmakers and screenwriters so dust off that script, make those final cuts, and send it in today!

As for the rest of you, Peachtree City is a satellite of Atlanta and the Crown Plaza Hotel where the event is held is a beautiful place secluded in the lush, verdant woods that could easily be the setting of any number of horror movies. The bucolic slice of Southern hospitality is less than 30 mins from Atlanta and offers so much for visitors to see and experience. Full of charm and wonder, blood, gore, and bone chilling terror, Women in Horror Film Festival is an absolute must for fans of independent film and horror.

52 Weeks of Horror is honored to be invited back to this amazing event and we’re dying to see what’s in store. Aren’t you? Tell us about your own contributions to horror entertainment and horror culture and come join us this October at Women in Horror Film Festival where we’ll be making that scary.
