"I, Victim" Is A New Interactive Horror Film
When the theater darkens, there are prompts to turn off you cell phones, however the filmmakers of I, Victim want you to keep them on. The reason: the movie is interactive and viewers use their phones to determine the outcome of the film.
The filmmakers, a husband and wife team Damon and Lortensia Merchant produced and shot the film in High-definition. Director Damon Merchant said, “If you have an iPhone or android phone, you’ll be able to control action on screen.” He added, “As people are watching movie, a screen will pop up and ask whether you’d like to have a character do this or that. The audience gets to vote via phone on two to four different choices on how to proceed.” So, depending on the audience, you may get a different experience each time; it’s like a choose-your-own-adventure book from the 80’s: updated. Even the run time can change depending on the audience, which ranges from one hour to two and a half hours.
Merchant say the premise is “that you have three characters who have to survive six different ‘killing grounds’ with six different serial killers. The levels get harder as you progress.” He adds, “And the audience chooses which character it would like to get into each level. But once a character dies, that’s it for them.”
